Cunniff Design were appointed by RG Group to develop the HLM designed scheme during planning stage, to allow an immediate start on site. Working closely with the RG team, Cunniff Design were able to inform the planning drawings to enable complete discharge of all pre-commencement conditions and allow an immediate start on site. The scheme was delivered in 12 months in time for the student intake in 2017.

Challenges

The development featured many different aspects, such as refurbishment of existing, new build, brickwork, cladding, below ground spaces and so on. Our development of the design in Revit enabled us to efficiently co-ordinate the technical delivery with our fellow consultants and specialists. The building also achieved BREEAM Very Good.

Public Art

The client and their funding partner were keen to explore Sheffield’s desire to include public art as part of the external development. Owen Waterhouse were commissioned to produce a piece of abstract sculpture, which represented the artist's background and training in silversmithing and metalwork.

"Cunniff Design have combined commitment and expertise with a friendly approach in delivering our first student scheme at Crown House in Sheffield. We look forward to working together again in the future."
