Bass New Brewery

Burton-on-Trent

Completed: January, 1970

Services: Architecture, Masterplanning, Feasibility

Sectors: Residential, Workplace, Leisure

Client: Day Dako Developments

Size: 5 acre site, 280 apartments, 150 hotel beds, retail, leisure, F&B & workplace

Our mixed-use scheme for Day-Dako Developments will breathe new life into the now vacant site, offering around 300 high-quality apartments, a 150-key hotel with supporting retail, leisure and commercial uses.

The proposals will retain and sensitively re-use a number of historic buildings and structures across the site, including two listed Brewhouse buildings, fermenting towers and a copper kettle. New buildings have been carefully designed to make a positive contribution to the setting, and the site will be completely transformed through the introduction of generous public space, creating a sustainable new community at the heart of Burton town centre.

Heritage

As well as the site containing listed buildings and sitting within an important Conservation Area, the sites long history and brewing traditions provides a wealth of interest that we have aimed to incorporate into the scheme. Looking at historic building typologies and understanding the brewing process has played an invaluable part in forming the design.
